Bible translator Lutu from the Nyisanzu people of Zambia is not only engaged with Bible translation, but he also teaches literacy to kindergarteners in his community.

Literacy plays a vital role in preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of language groups. When people can read and write in their mother tongue, they document and pass down traditions, stories, histories, and cultural knowledge to future generations. Literacy allows for the creation of written literature, which not only enriches the cultural identity of a community, but also helps in the revitalization and maintenance of the language itself. Literacy education has the power to break the cycle of poverty in disadvantaged communities.

Lutu believes he is here to run the road that God called him to in mother-tongue Bible translation work and in equipping future generations. Through the selfless sacrifices of local, community speakers, willing to give themselves to the cause of Bible translation, lives are transformed and God is glorified.
